Living Wisely and Well:

Personal Explorations into Health and Wellbeing

Welcome to the site! My intention is to keep track of the things that make for better health and wellbeing in my own life. However, I hope that you might also benefit from what I discover. Feel free to explore the site through time.

Eight years ago, I nearly died from septicemia. There was an massive infection in my bowel and it was poisoning my blood. I'll talk about what happened in more depth elsewhere. However, that experience led to my retirement and many years of struggle with various illnesses.

The ultimate diagnosis was Parkinson's Disease (PD)

I had a good idea what this diagnosis might mean for my life. My father had lived with PD. It left him severly debilitated towards the end. When I was diagnosed, I was some fifteen years younger than my father had been. I can't imaging living my remaining years fruitlessly. I may not be able to overcome the disease. But, I would rather that it didn't conquer me without a fight!

DISCLAIMER: This site does not offer medical advice. You get that from your doctor and specialists. It does chronicle my own discoveries about what works and doesn't work for me. What I write is for my education and entertainment. So, caveat imptor; be forewarned, "buyer". It's up to you and your team to decide what is best for you in your situation.

If what I write about gets you thinking and starts you acting, great. Let me know. You can contact me at durtal-at-oddprotocol-dot-org. I won't promise to answer every email. I don't always travel well and my time is precious. But, give it a shot. I might be up for a digital conversation.

Respecting and Rejoicing

We pay our respects to the Elders and people of the Nations upon whose land we have lived, learned and worked. We are grateful to have had the chance to raise our immediate family on these lands. We rejoice in the rising generations.

Sancte Joseph, ora pro nobis!
